Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says government is rigorously pursuing the agenda of reforms to steer the country out of prevailing challenges and put it on economic growth trajectory. Addressing Balochistan cabinet in Quetta today, he said reforms agenda including solarization of tubewells is a quantum jump and it will put country on path of sustainable development. The Prime Minister said government has planned to shift over one million tubewells across the country on solar power to save fuel and expensive electricity. He said this project will be completed with the cooperation of provinces. He said twenty-eight thousand agriculture tub wells in Balochistan will be shifted on solar power. The Prime Minister said the project will be completed within three months costing fifty-five billion rupees which will enable farmers to increase their under cultivation land and irrigation of crops more conveniently. He further said that three hundred thousand students will be sent to China under agreement with Huawei and Balochistan students have ten percent quota in this project. The Prime Minister said demand of Balochistan government for hundred percent increase in budget has been fulfilled. The Prime Minister said Federal Government, in collaboration with the Balochistan Government, will undertake joint efforts for the development of the province. He said the highly educated and skilled youth of Balochistan will certainly play an important role in the development of the province and the country. The Prime Minister highlighted that funds have been allocated in the federal budget for the establishment of Danish Schools in Balochistan. President Asif Ali Zardari has called for completing the Kachhi Canal project within one and half years, which would irrigate 713,000 acres of land in Balochistan. Chairing a meeting on Green Pakistan Initiative in Islamabad today, he said Federal Government would provide funding for the project to ensure its timely completion on a priority basis. The President was also briefed about the construction of six strategic canals for the Green Pakistan Initiative. It was told that the construction of six strategic canals, which include Chashma Right Bank Canal, Kachhi Canal, Rainee Canal, Greater Thal Canal, Cholistan Canal, and Thar Canal, would help enhance the agricultural potential of Pakistan by increasing the cultivable area as well as the livestock and fisheries' potential of the country.
