PM Terms $2.1bn Current Account Surplus Historic Milestone

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan has posted a $2.1 billion annual current account surplus for the first time in fourteen years and the largest after twenty-two years. In a post on his X handle, he termed it a historic milestone.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister attributed this achievement to record remittances, rising exports, and a laser focus on structural reforms. He emphasized that this surplus reflects the confidence of overseas Pakistanis and the resolve at home.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the economic team and their efforts, which contributed significantly to reaching this economic milestone.
