Islamabad: Pakistan and seven other Muslim countries have strongly condemned the appalling, degrading, and unacceptable actions of extremist Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir against participants of the Gaza-bound flotilla while they were in Israeli detention. The joint stance highlights the collective disapproval of these countries regarding the treatment of detainees.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates expressed in a joint statement that Ben-Gvir's deliberate public humiliation of detainees is a disgraceful assault on human dignity and a clear violation of Israel's obligations under international law. This collective denunciation underscores the gravity of the situation and the international community's discontent with the actions described.
The ministers warned that Ben-Gvir's provocative actions will fuel hatred and extremism, potentially obstructing efforts to advance a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution. The emphasis on the consequences of such actions reflects concerns over their impact on regional stability and peace efforts.
The Foreign Ministers stressed the imperative of protecting human rights, safeguarding the dignity and humane treatment of all detainees, and ensuring full respect for international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Their statement calls for adherence to international norms and highlights the importance of human rights in conflict situations.
