Islamabad: A delegation of the International Monetary Fund, led by Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department, Jihad Azour, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. The meeting focused on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and the IMF’s support for the country’s development plans.
According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s reform efforts and reiterated the Fund’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic development agenda. The discussions underscored the importance of the ongoing partnership between the IMF and Pakistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the successful completion of the first review under the Extended Fund Facility Arrangement. He thanked the IMF for its continued engagement with Pakistan, including through the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, which aims to bolster the country’s economic resilience.
He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to achieving sustained macroeconomic stability. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the government’s focus on implementing key structural reforms and promoting long-term, inclusive economic growth as part of its broader development strategy.
