Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has inaugurated the Safe City Project in Rawalpindi. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the team to complete the project before the stipulated time and save about 84 billion rupees in this project. The Chief Minister was briefed that 1886 cameras have been installed at 306 points of the city. Earlier, Safe City Project was also inaugurated in Faisalabad and Gujranwala. Source: Radio Pakistan

Pakistan Coast Guards has carried out major crackdown against illegal immigrants and drug trafficking. Last week, Pakistan Coast Guards arrested illegal immigrants during various operations from Jiwani to Hub. Drugs, oil and daily used items worth billions of rupees were also recovered. According to the details, Pakistan Coast Guards seized a shipment of drugs and other items while acting on a tip-off about drugs and smuggling by sea from Jiwani and Pasni areas of Gwadar district. Pakistan has dispatched sixth tranche of relief assistance for the people of Gaza. Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Rebai, officials of NDMA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of Al-Khidmat Foundation attended the send-off ceremony at Jinnah International Airport Karachi today. The humanitarian assistance flight will land at Al-Arish Egypt, where Pakistan Ambassador to Egypt will receive the tranche for further distribution to Palestinian people. This sixth relief consignment comprises 100 tons of assistance including 30 tons of blankets, special winterized family tents and 70 tons of medicines and tinned food items as per needs at Gaza. Earlier, the NDMA has sent five relief consignments comprising 230 tons of aid which included special winterized tents, blankets, surgical supplies, medicines, and food packs. Source: Radio Pakistan

Interior Minister Gohar Ejaz says all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful and transparent conduct of general elections on Thursday. Addressing a news conference along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad today, he emphasized the people should come out on the polling day and exercise their right to vote without any fear or intimidation. The Interior Minister said the civil armed forces, the armed forces and police as well as administration are working round the clock to ensure conducive environment on the polling day. Gohar Ejaz said ninety thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven polling stations have been established nationwide. Of these, forty-four thousand polling stations have been declared normal, twenty-nine thousand nine hundred and eighty-five sensitive and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and sixty-six highly sensitive. He said each polling station will have deployment of seven to eight security personnel on average. He said about six hun dred and fifty thousand security personnel have been deployed on the ground to ensure the security of the voters. In his remarks, the Information Minister said despite all speculations, the general elections are taking place on Thursday. He said it is written in the preamble of the constitution that the country will be governed by its elected representatives. Election Commission of Pakistan has asked national media to strictly observe code of conduct for General Election. According to code of conduct, reflecting any opinion prejudicial to the ideology, sovereignty, dignity, or security of Pakistan and other national institutions is forbidden. It also forbids airing or displaying on electronic, digital and social media, any allegations and statements which may harm national solidarity or may create law and order situation during the entire election process. Furthermore, the media shall not air any unofficial result of a polling station until one hour has passed after the close of poll. Source: Radio Pakistan

Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa and its three Consulates in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal arranged a series of programmes including pictorial exhibitions, seminars and documentary screening to highlight the human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The High Commissioner of Pakistan Zaheer A Janjua inaugurated the photographic exhibition which was attended by a large number of Pakistani diaspora. In a video message, the High Commissioner said the illegal steps of the 5th August 2019 have no legal or political impact on the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon the international community to stop India of massive violations of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir, rescind the unilateral and illegal measures and implement the UN Resolutions for the resolution of the dispute.
