Islamabad: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has urged the international community to continue its support for Colombia, the 2016 Peace Agreement, and the vital work done by the UN Verification Mission. At the UN Security Council briefing on Colombia, he emphasized that the 2016 Peace Agreement remains Colombia's blueprint for transforming conflict into opportunity.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted how the Peace Agreement addresses the root causes of the decades-long conflict, paving the way for a future where peace can benefit all Colombians. He commended the Colombian government and parties to the 2016 Agreement for their commitment to peace despite ongoing challenges.
Ambassador Ahmad reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support for the peace process and encouraged all involved parties to stay committed to the full implementation of the Peace Agreement. He emphasized that dialogue is the only viable path to peace and urged armed groups to renounce violence, engage constructively, recommit to dialogue without preconditions, and fully respect the Constitution and national laws.
