World Day against Child Labour observed

World Day against Child Labour was observed on Sunday.

The theme of the day this year called for increased investment in social protection systems and schemes to protect children from labour.

The eradication of child labour requires a systemic approach and effective policies to strengthen social protection systems, education, and decent work opportunities for parents to address the conditions that drive child labour.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has said that Child labour is a social evil that endangers the development of children and society.

In his message on World Day against Child Labour, he said Children are the future of Pakistan and parliament has taken all possible steps to enact legislation aimed at eradicating child labour.

He said Pakistan Stands by its international obligations to prevent child labour.

He said child labour perpetuates poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, population growth, and other social problems. The child's hands are too small to work; they look good holding a pencil.

Sadiq Sanjrani said the more attention is paid to the well-being of children, the brighter the prospects for the development of Nations.

He also urged people from all walks of life to work together to end the forced labour of innocent children.
