Shahadat anniversary of Karnal Sher Khan being observed today

The 24th shahadat anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed on Wednesday.

He was born in district Sawabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1970.

During the Kargil conflict on the Line of Control in 1999, he emerged as the symbol of mettle and courage and inflicted heavy losses on the Indian forces while defending the five strategic posts at the height of 17,000 feet in Gultray.

He was martyred on this day in 1999 gallantly defending the motherland and was decorated with country`s highest gallantry award, Nishan-e-Haider.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the nation will always remain indebted to its heroes who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country.

In his message on the occasion of 24th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed today, the Prime Minister said Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider was a brave son of Pakistan whose valour was admired even by the enemy.

Shehbaz Sharif said Karnal Sher Khan defended his motherland with exemplary show of dutifulness at a height of 17,000 feet at Gultari and sacrificed his life.

He said Captain Karnal Sher Khan proved himself a lion in attacking the enemy and forcing it to retreat.

Deploring the incidents of May 9, this year when memorials and statues of national heroes including Karnal Sher Khan were desecrated, the Prime Minister said May 9 is a bleak chapter of our history.

He re-vowed that the nation will always honour those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country and all those involved in the May 9 incidents will be punished.

He urged the young generation to get awareness about the great sacrifices of the martyrs and their love for the country.

Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs have paid glowing tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider on his 24th martyrdom anniversary being observed today.

According to ISPR, his stellar leadership and courage beckons us to defend Pakistan at all cost.

Captain Karnal Sher Khan, Kargil War Hero, wrote history with his blood displaying utmost valour, commitment and unwavering allegiance to defend the country against all odds.

His martyrdom anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan to defend the motherland.

The ISPR further said that let us remember these heroes who have laid down their lives in defence of our motherland. The nation is proud of its gallant sons.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Interior, Attaullah Tarar visited the grave of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed in Swabi today.

On the occasion, he paid glowing tributes to his indomitable courage and heroic battlefield performance during Kargil War in 1999.

Attaullah Tarar offered Fateha for eternal peace for the lion of Kargil and met with his family.
