Lahore: Dr. Munawar Hussain, an expert in international relations, emphasized the significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in both regional and international contexts. He explained that organizations such as BRICS, NAM, and SCO play crucial roles in fostering regional cooperation and hold substantial influence. The global north's use of economic tools like the dollar as a weapon, alongside sanctions imposed on countries like Russia and Iran, necessitated an alternative platform to address political and economic issues. Dr. Hussain highlighted that the SCO represents nearly the entire Global South, making it a larger organization than BRICS. According to Radio Pakistan, China plays a central role in both SCO and BRICS, leading both organizations. Dr. Hussain noted India's challenges within the SCO, having faced humiliation on multiple international stages, including the G7 and SCO Defense Ministers' meetings, due to its contentious narrative against Paki stan. In contrast, Pakistan's narrative has been positively received by the international community. China is perceived as reshaping global structures through these organizations, with its emphasis on avoiding military confrontation gaining global support. China has also initiated the International Organization for Mediation, addressing unresolved international disputes, a mandate traditionally held by the United Nations. This new platform has attracted participation from several countries. Dr. Hussain pointed out the need for organizations to address incidents like India's recent drone attack on Myanmar. He noted that internal frictions within India's BJP and public dissatisfaction with Narendra Modi's policies are prompting India to seek political concessions from Pakistan.
