Russia rejects Turkey’s calls for Idlib truce

Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected Turkey's calls for a truce to prevent a bloodbath in Syria's northern province of Idlib.

At a trilateral meeting with Iran and Turkey, he said that Russia would continue its fight against terrorists.

Meanwhile, during the meeting in Tehran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also spoke of fighting terrorism in the province but said civilians must not be made to suffer.

Earlier, Russia again carried out air strikes in Syria today targetting rebels positions in Idlib province,killing two people and injuring eighteen others. Russian officials have stated clearly that they want militants to be pushed out of Idlib. The United Nations has warned that a military offensive in Idlib could cause a humanitarian catastrophe.
