Restrictions in Srinagar to prevent Ashura processions

A fresh report released by Kashmir Media Service has deplored Modi-led fascist Indian regime for turning Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir into present-day Karbala.

The report which was released on Tuesday also condemned Modi regime for imposing stringent restrictions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to prevent people from holding Muharram processions and paying tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

It said that Modi is the Yazid of the time for the Kashmiris and India has emerged as modern Yazidi regime by inflicting untold miseries on innocent Kashmiris.

The report further said that Kashmiris will continue to draw courage and inspiration from Karbala to attain freedom from Indian yoke.

It said that Kashmiris' struggle against Indian tyranny is an extension of the battle of Karbala as the message of Karbala to Kashmiris is to stay steadfast in defiance against Indian tyranny and oppression.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities further tightened restrictions in different areas of Srinagar today to prevent people from taking out the traditional Ashura processions, fearing that they could convert into anti-India demonstrations.

The curbs were intensified in Lal Chowk, Alamgiri Bazar, Zadibal, Lalbazar, Shaheed Gunj, Hawal, Aabi Guzar and other areas of Srinagar to restrict the movement of people and stop them from converging on the traditional routes for taking out joint processions of 10th day of Muharram.

Due to restrictions, small Muharram processions were held in the compounds of Imambargahs in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipura, Pulwama, Islamabad and other areas.

Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Tehreek-Wahdat-e-Islami and Pairwan-e-Wilayat in their statements in Srinagar strongly denounced the curbs on the Muharram processions and use of brute force on mourners.
