Punjab Government Endeavouring to Strengthen Midwifery Services: Rukhsana Kausar

Lahore: Director Training, Research and Production, Health and Population Department Punjab, Rukhsana Kausar has reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening midwifery services to ensure a safe future for every mother and child.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an exclusive interview with the correspondent Qasim Bukhari on the occasion of International Day of the Midwife, Rukhsana Kausar highlighted that the Punjab government has established Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) in four regions to promote midwifery services.

Rukhsana Kausar stated that under this initiative, enrolled students are not charged any tuition fee, are provided free hostel accommodation, and receive a monthly stipend of 10,000 rupees.

She further informed that the Punjab government has also established 70 midwifery schools across the province where both admission and monthly fees have been waived.
