Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced an initiative to provide an honorarium of twenty-five thousand rupees per month to Imams of approximately seventy thousand mosques throughout the province, starting next month. Addressing a ceremony in Lahore for the distribution of honorarium cards to mosque Imams, she revealed that the project would require an annual budget of 20 billion rupees. She also mentioned that bank accounts necessary for the distribution have already been established in the Bank of Punjab. According to Radio Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz emphasized the significant role that mosque Imams play in addressing social and religious matters, as well as offering guidance during both celebratory and challenging times. She expressed her commitment to supporting Imams, acknowledging their contributions as custodians of religious practices. Maryam Nawaz stated that it is a privilege for her to serve those who serve the community.
