Punjab Chief Minister Launches Five Road Projects

Islamabad:Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz today launched five road projects under the Punjab Public-Private Partnership Authority.

According to Radio Pakistan, these projects include the Muridke-Narowal, Shakargarh-Narowal, Faisalabad Ring Road, Faisalabad-Sahianwala, and Faisalabad-Samundri-Rajana roads, with an expected revenue generation of 22 billion rupees.

Electronic toll plazas will be established on these roads, and private contractors will collect tolls through the National Highway Authority system. They will also be responsible for maintaining the roads over a period of seven years.

During a briefing with the Chief Minister, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb mentioned that four additional roads, including Bahawalpur-Yazman, Yazman-Ahmedpur Sharqia, Raiwind-Changa Manga, and Gajju Mata-Kasur, would also be handed over to private contractors.

Aurangzeb further noted that the Punjab Public-Private Partnership Authority is engaged in various projects across sectors such as health, sanitation, tourism, waste-to-energy, transport, and education. This includes initiatives like a Time Travel Park in Lahore, a modern truck terminal in Faisalabad, and hostels at twenty-nine universities.
