Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that reforms in the energy sector are the government’s topmost priority. While chairing a meeting in Islamabad, he instructed that the volume of circular debt should be gradually reduced and eventually eliminated through reforms in the gas sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, a long-term comprehensive plan regarding gas supply and consumption in the country was presented to the Prime Minister during the meeting. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the establishment of different blocks aimed at increasing domestic gas production and discovering new reserves.
The briefing also covered aspects of financial stability in the gas sector, long-term planning, and the improvement of the governance system.
