Islamabad:Analysts have praised Pakistan's mediatory efforts in the fragile peace and stability situation in the Middle East, focusing on its strategic role in bridging the gap between the United States and Iran.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan has historically served as a diplomatic bridge between the US and Iran, facilitating significant dialogue between the two nations. Although previous efforts nearly led to a peace agreement, continued hostilities prevented its realization. Recently, Pakistan has shifted its focus to fostering closer ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, with Iran now seeing the Makkah Alliance as a key to regional stability.
Dr. Muhammad Khan, an international relations expert, highlighted Pakistan's diplomacy, especially the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in mediating these complex relationships. The world has recognized Pakistan's growing stature due to these peace efforts. However, Pakistan faces ongoing challenges as a target of terrorism, reportedly sponsored by India and facilitated by Afghanistan, which political leaders should consider carefully.
Ambassador A M Shahid, a former diplomat, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Pakistan's historic mediatory role and the recent diplomatic visit to Tehran. This meeting sent a strong message globally, influencing voters in Israeli and US midterm elections to reject the policies of Netanyahu and Trump regarding the Middle East conflict. There is optimism that Pakistan's efforts will lead to a peace deal in the region.
