Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr. Asim Hussain has said that Pakistan recognizes historical and brotherly relations with Islamic Republic of Iran and the time tested relationship between the two countries bonded together by common religion. The two countries enjoy close social, cultural, economic and political relations.
He was talking to H.E. Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran who called on the Minister Petroleum today in Islamabad. H.E. Mr. Mashaallah Shakeri, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan and Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources Division Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Asim Hussain warmly welcomed the Iranian Foreign Minister and accompanying members of delegation and reassured the mutual understanding of both the governments on regional and global issues.
Federal Minister for Petroleum apprised the Iranian Foreign Minister about the ongoing projects of the oil and gas sector in Pakistan and thanked the Iranian government for the cooperation extended in Iran – Pakistan Gas Pipeline project.
H.E. Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran thanked the Minister for efforts made by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources for early completion of the Iran – Pakistan Pipeline and assured that the Government of Iran would extend all possible help in the energy sector.
