Pakistan calls for restructuring UNSC acceptable for majority members

At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for evolving a model for restructuring the UN Security Council that should be acceptable to the majority of member states.

Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram while speaking at the meeting of Inter-Governmental Negotiations in New York said any other course of action would lead to a dead-end.

He said we remain opposed to attempts to steer member states towards solutions imposed by votes and majorities as some permanent members were behind those attempts to preserve their own privileged position.
