Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed its appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s willingness to support efforts aimed at resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, an issue that has significant implications for peace and security in South Asia and beyond.
According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan reiterated Pakistan’s position that any just and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must align with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. It should also ensure the realization of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to self-determination.
The spokesperson also acknowledged the constructive role played by the United States, alongside other supportive nations, in backing the recent ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India.
He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to engaging with the United States and the international community in efforts to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the region. He added that Pakistan looks forward to strengthening its multifaceted partnership with the United States, particularly in trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
