Islamabad: European Union Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis has expressed optimism about the potential for expanding business ties between Pakistan and the European Union. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan Correspondent Zafar Iqbal, Karoblis emphasized the significant opportunities presented by Pakistan's GSP Plus status, which grants duty-free access to EU markets, thereby facilitating greater export potential for Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ambassador noted that the European Union remains the largest destination for Pakistani exports. He highlighted the opportunities to further increase exports, particularly in the textile and garments sectors, which have traditionally been Pakistan's strongholds. Additionally, Karoblis mentioned the interest of several major European companies in investing in Pakistan, particularly in the mining sector.
The ambassador also discussed the ongoing forum that aims to explore cooperation in digital innovation, fintech, and sustainable logistics. This forum is expected to pave the way for new ventures and collaborations, potentially enhancing economic ties between the two regions.
On the diplomatic front, Raimundas Karoblis praised Pakistan for its role as a mediator in regional diplomacy, particularly between the United States and Iran. He commended Pakistan's commitment to global peace and its effective use of diplomatic channels among the United States, Iran, and Gulf countries, highlighting the country's significant role in fostering stability in the region.
