Islamabad: Pakistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Muhammad Naeem Khan called on Saudi Minister for Agriculture, H.E. Dr. Fahd Bin Abdul Rehman bin Suliman Balghunaim at his office today and discussed matters of mutual interest, says a press release received from Jeddah here today.
During the meeting, the Ambassador apprised the Saudi Minister on the potential existing between the two countries for bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, agricultural research, livestock, food and meat processing and diary development. The Ambassador informed the Saudi Minister that Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) could provide expertise to Saudi Arabia in the field of desert, dry land and peri-urban agriculture.
Ambassador Naeem Khan highlighted various areas in agriculture and livestock sectors where immense investment opportunities are available in Pakistan which should be explored by the Saudi business community for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The Ambassador also emphasized on closer interaction between the governmental institutions of the two countries related to agriculture and agriculture research.
Saudi Minister for Agriculture evinced strong interest in developing closer cooperation with Pakistan in the field of agriculture and livestock and agreed with the Ambassador on the importance of developing linkages both at the government level and also between the private sectors of the two countries.
The Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Naeem Khan today also held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Nizar Obeid Madani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh and discuss with him matters of mutual interest.
The Ambassador apprised the Saudi Minister of State on the current flood situation in Pakistan and the need for the international community’s support for the efforts of the Government of Pakistan to provide timely relief and assistance to the flood affected people in Pakistan. The Saudi Minister of State expressed grief on the damage and destruction caused in the flood affected areas and emphasized that Saudi Arabia would always be forthcoming in helping its Pakistani brethren in distress.
