Opposition leader in NA calls for unity to defeat terrorism

The National Assembly, which resumed its session in Islamabad on Wednesday evening, continued discussion on recent incidents of terrorism, particularly in Peshawar.

Taking part in the debate, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Raja Riaz called for unity to defeat terrorism.

He assured the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies that the entire nation is standing behind them to curb terrorism.

Criticizing policies of the past, Raja Riaz said we should come out of the notion of good or bad Taliban, as this theory has proved wrong.

He said the decision to bring terrorist elements from Afghanistan and let them settle in Pakistan was also wrong.

The Opposition leader also demanded of the government to provide best medical facilities to the injured and a compensation package for victims of the incident.

Taking part in the discussion, Nasir Khan Musazai urged political and military leadership to sit together to take a common and united decision to deal with the menace of terrorism.

Mohsin Dawar called for constituting a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to fix responsibility of the wrongdoings committed in the past.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor suggested to evolve a strategy other than military operation to eliminate terrorism from the country.
