OIC, UNOCT sign counter-terrorism agreement
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two organizations to counter terrorism.
The agreement, signed in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, provides a framework, setting out the scope and modalities of the cooperation. It aims at effective cooperation and balanced implementation of the relevant documents in the field of counter-terrorism.
The document was signed by OIC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Ambassador Abdullah Alim and UN Undersecretary General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov. The two sides decided that a joint planning action would be developed to effectively implement the MoU.
