OIC chief condemns killing of dozens of civilians in Mali

Jeddah Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen condemned, in the strongest terms, the killing of at least 40 civilians on April 26-27 by suspected extremists active in the regions of Anderamboukane and Infoukaretane, near Mali's northeastern border with Niger.

Al-Othaimeen deplored this resurgence of violence in Mali in recent weeks which is spilling into neighboring countries, endangering the implementation of the 2015 Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali and the stability of the Sahel region.

The secretary general extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a prompt recovery to the wounded. He described all acts of terrorism as purely crimes against humanity and should be treated as such.
