NDMA, IRC agree to conduct workshops for proactive disaster management

National Disaster Management Authority and International Rescue Committee have agreed to conduct seminars and workshops for proactive disaster management and mitigation.

The understanding was reached at a meeting in Islamabad on Friday, between Country Director Pakistan of International Rescue Committee Shabnam Baloch and Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.

The Country Director apprised the Chairman NDMA of progress on recovery plan being executed by IRC in flood-hit areas of Pakistan.

She commended the role of NDMA and other government departments for coordination and facilitation in relief operations during emergency situation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman NDMA acknowledged the rescue and relief efforts by IRC in flood hit areas and emphasized on laying out a comprehensive response model for tangible outcomes of relief and rehabilitation process.
