Islamabad: NDMA will mark the International Women’s Day by participating in a five day event being organized at Lok Virsa to mainstream and highlight the efforts and achievements in disasters on livelihood, health, and media reporting in the gender perspective.
This event will be held during Thursday March 8-12, 2012 at the Lok Virsa, Shakarparian. The concluding ceremony and the prize distribution will be held on Monday March 12, 2012, at 11 am. (Details and schedule of the activities to follow soon)
NDMA, intends to showcase, the role and achievements of, international institutions, civil society, academia, and private sector during the past disasters and preparedness to cope with the future disasters in the context of gender health, livelihood and media reporting.
The issues in cross cutting spectrum of disaster response, disaster risk reduction, preparation, prevention, provision and protection and the specific needs of young girls and the future mothers will be protected (Main components of the event and a participation sheet attached).
The event will enable NDMA’s partners to highlight and project their role and achievements during the past disasters and future preparedness in the context of health, livelihood and media reporting. The objective of NDMA’s participation will be to mainstream Gender/ women issues in the Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Risk management through:-
Building Resilience against disasters through Reproductive health, Nutrition, Prevention from epidemics Sustainability of livelihood through women entrepreneurship Responsive and responsible Media reporting for disasters
