Islamabad: Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan's former Ambassador to the United States, China, and the United Nations, Sardar Masood Khan, has called for the full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, advocating for a free and fair plebiscite to resolve the Kashmir dispute peacefully. Addressing a gathering of scholars and students, he emphasized that Kashmir remains a vital struggle for dignity, freedom, and international justice.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sardar Masood Khan highlighted that the recent conflict between India and Pakistan is fundamentally rooted in the Kashmir issue. He explained that the stand-off began with the Pahalgam incident and concluded with a reaffirmation of Kashmir's centrality. He noted that US President Trump's post-war statements have brought renewed attention to Kashmir on the global stage.
He warned that the continued denial of Kashmiri self-determination poses a constant threat of instability in South Asia, with the risk of nuclear escalation. He stressed that lasting peace cannot be achieved without justice for the Kashmiri people.
The former AJK President also advocated for third-party mediation by credible international actors, including the United States, to address the Kashmir issue. Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to carry forward the cause of Kashmir on various platforms, such as academic, digital, and diplomatic ones.
Sardar Masood Khan reaffirmed Pakistan's steadfast commitment to supporting Kashmir's right to self-determination in line with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
