Martyrdom Anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Observed


Islamabad: The 26th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed on Saturday, commemorating his sacrifice during the Kargil conflict in 1999, where he laid down his life defending his country with unmatched courage.



According to Radio Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed on his anniversary. ISPR highlighted that his supreme sacrifice embodies the selflessness and dedication characteristic of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The legacy of Captain Karnal Sher Khan continues to inspire the people of Pakistan, serving as a beacon for future generations. The armed forces reiterated their commitment to protect the nation from all threats.



President Asif Ali Zardari also honored Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, acknowledging his sacrifice as a crucial chapter in the nation’s history. He emphasized that the sacrifices of martyrs like him are the cornerstone of the country’s freedom, sovereignty, and security. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, praising Captain Karnal Sher Khan’s extraordinary bravery and commitment during the Kargil conflict. The Prime Minister emphasized that Karnal Sher Khan’s example of loyalty and fearless sacrifice in defending the country will be eternally remembered, and his family remains a source of pride for the nation.



Furthermore, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid homage to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, stating that every child in Pakistan aspires to emulate the martyr’s courage and dedication to defending their homeland. The Speaker remarked that Captain Sher Khan’s actions during the Kargil war have rewritten the history of bravery, and the entire nation holds him in high regard.
