Islamabad: Japanese Ambassador, His Excellency Hiroshi OE called on Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, here at Ministry of Textile Industry to discuss the prospects of Japanese investment in “Pakistan Textile City”, a recent project launched by the said Ministry.
The Ambassador said that, during his last visit of Japan, he had briefed the Japanese government and entrepreneurs about the said project and both of them had showed keen interest in the idea. He also informed that two Japanese representatives also went to Karachi to visit the project but could not do so due to heavy rainfall.
He further said that he himself will visit the site next month and will also hold talks with Japanese business community to pursue them to invest in the project.
During the course of discussion, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Federal Minister for Textile Industry said that the basic idea of the Pakistan Textile City is to facilitate and to boost textile industry and to get maximum foreign direct investment.
He assured the Japanese delegation that foolproof security and the state of art facilities will be provided to the Japanese investors. He also said that Japanese investment in this project will be like the first drop of rain and the other foreign investors will also follow them.
Pakistan Textile City is being established as a bench-mark industrial zone providing modern infrastructure to the value added textile sectors. It will help to increase the exports significantly as more than 277 new units will be established on 1,250 acres of Textile City.
