Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said Pakistan is in contact with Afghanistan and Iran so that the territories of the three countries could not be used against each other by the terrorist groups.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said Pakistan enjoys fraternal relations both with Afghanistan and Iran.

Responding to a question, the Defence Minister said Pakistan has the safest nuclear program and the country has the capability to protect it. He said we will continue to meet the international obligations.

Turning to the political situation, the Defence Minister said all the legal and constitutional obligations will be fulfilled as regards to the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said we have started preparations for these elections and a parliamentary board is also being constituted.

Felicitating the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, he was confident that under him, free, fair and transparent elections will be held in the province. He said the decision of his appointment by the Election Commission is in accordance with the law and constitution and the due process was followed.

Commenting on the PTI’s decision to withdraw their resignations from the National Assembly, Khawaja Asif said Imran Khan is heading towards a complete failure and the repeated reversal of his decisions is a manifestation of it.
