Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a long-term, interest-free "Hajj Savings Plan" designed to assist Pakistani pilgrims.
According to Radio Pakistan, the approval follows a summary jointly submitted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, the Finance Ministry, and National Savings. This new plan introduces a Sharia-compliant digital financial mechanism to aid pilgrims in planning and saving for Hajj in advance.
The scheme will allow intending pilgrims to deposit funds on a monthly basis through digital channels. This initiative aims to facilitate systematic financial planning, mitigate the impact of rising inflation, and make Hajj preparation more manageable for citizens.
Authorities have been instructed to finalize the rules and regulations for the plan within the next two months.
