Initial response to govt’s tree plantation drive phenomenal: Amin

Prime Minister's Advisor on Climate Change, Amin Aslam says initial response to the government's tree plantation drive "Plant4Pakistan" has been phenomenal.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said people from all walks of life overwhelmingly participated in the plantation drive.

The Advisor said we initially set the target of 1.5 million tree plantation in a day, but due to active participation, we ended up with more than 2.5 million, which is a highly remarkable achievement.

He said the government has decided to start next phase of this plantation drive by January next year.

Amin Aslam said the PTI government is committed to make Pakistan green and pollution free and attaches highest priority to its ten billion tsunami tree plantation project.

The Advisor categorically said timber mafia is inflicting havoc to the country and the government will adopt a zero tolerance policy against such mafias.
