Inclusion of China to make Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry more vibrant: Tariq Sayeed

Karachi: “inclusion of China would make the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) more effective and help achieve its objectives for expansion of economic cooperation in Asia” stated Mr Tariq Sayeed, Vice President of CACCI while moderating a session on “The Role of CACCI to Promote and Facilitate Trade and Investment” held on 14th October at CACCI summit held in Taipei.

Mr. Sayeed who is also former President of FPCCI and SAARC CCI proposed 10-item agenda to further improve the performance of CACCI in respect of trade and investment promotion amongst its 26 member countries.

The proposals included Identification of bottlenecks for intra-CACCI trade, services and investment, encourage and promote freedom of movement of goods, service and people, cultural exchanges and tourism development, trade facilitation mechanism etc, fiscal and monetary reforms, encouraging corporate social responsibility, intra-CACCI transparency and Corporate Governance Mechanism, preparation of Trade and Investment Guides, Sector and country specific Reports, Position papers on critical issues, strengthening institutional linkages with SAARC, ASEAN, APEC, ECO etc. formation of regional focal points transforming CACCI from a platform into a think-tank, constituting Academic and expert Group for policy guidelines on socio-economic issues and convening CACCI Economic Summit as an annual regular feature.

After the summit, Mr. Sayeed shall depart for China to attend 18th Western China Trade fair and conference scheduled in Chengdu city of Sichuan Province.
