New delhi: Human Rights Watch has criticized the Indian government for fuelling bias on religious lines.

According to Radio Pakistan, Asia Director of Human Rights Watch Elaine Pearson stated that the Hindu nationalist government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has long taken a hardline stance on immigration, particularly concerning individuals from neighboring Bangladesh.

The report highlighted that India had forcibly expelled hundreds of ethnic Bengali-speaking Muslims into Bangladesh without due process. This action has raised concerns about the treatment and rights of minority communities within India, as well as the implications for regional relations.
