Islamabad:Advisor to the Prime Minister on Industries, Haroon Akhtar Khan, has announced the establishment of a world-class gemstone centre in Islamabad aimed at facilitating the development of the gemstone sector and unlocking its economic potential. According to Radio Pakistan, the announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Haroon Akhtar Khan in Islamabad. He emphasized that Pakistan's gemstone sector holds the potential to generate billions of dollars in economic activity and could significantly boost the country's exports. He further highlighted that the government has initiated the formulation and implementation of the Gemstones Policy to prevent the loss of valuable resources and promote the systematic development of the sector. The adoption of modern technologies and improved processing techniques was also emphasized as a means to enhance the value of gemstones and avert potential losses worth billions of dollars.
