FM lauds int’l community for extending help to flood-hit people

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed gratitude to the United Nations and all international donors including World Bank for their quick response and help for the flood affected people in Pakistan.

Addressing a conference on the rehabilitation of flood affected areas in Karachi on Wednesday, he appreciated the timely visit of the UN Secretary General to flood-affected areas in Pakistan.

He said the World Bank released two billion dollars in this regard even before the Geneva Conference.

The Foreign Minister said that we need further 1 point 5 billion dollars to build houses, of which the World Bank has given 500 million dollars while Sindh Government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have arranged to provide 250 million dollars each.

Earlier, the Foreign Minister inaugurated the funds for house construction to rehabilitate flood affected people in Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said around two point one million houses have been damaged in floods in the province.
