Europe facing its worst drought in 500 years

Europe is facing its worst drought in at least 500 years, with two-thirds of the continent in a state of alert or warning.

According to the latest report from the Global Drought Observatory, 47 percent of the continent is in warning conditions where soil has dried up.

The report warns that the dry spell may last for several months in some of Europe’s southern regions, affecting the crop yields and sparking wildfires.
