Karachi: The sequel to the Don, Don 2 was recently premiered at Atrium cinemas here in Karachi. The glamorous celebrities including the likes of Humayun Saeed, Faakhir, Ayesha Khan, Rubina Ashraf, Badar Khalil, Behroze Sabzwari and Tapu Javeri graced the red carpet at the movie premiere and appreciated the dramatic ambiance created by the event organizers in line with the movie’s theme.

In 2006, Farhan Akhtar decided to remake the 1978 Don and came up with Don: The Chase Begins Again. Taking the story ahead, Farhan Akhtar has now taken Don 2: The Chase Continues to the next level by adding some really great action work and potential storyline that can impress the audiences.

In the earlier version, Don had to deal with the goons and gangs of underworld in Malaysia. However, in the sequel Don moves ahead and decides to take over the European Mafia. Hence, he has to take over all the European gang lords and bosses to complete his mission and rule the European underworld and at the same time escape the law enforcement agencies. The action shifts from Kuala Lumpur to Berlin as Don must avoid assassination or arrest, whichever comes first, in order for his plan to succeed. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the star cast of the movie includes Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Bomal Irani and Om Puri.

The film releases worldwide on 23rd December including Pakistan. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Don 2 is distributed by Mandviwalla Entertainment and Tehulka Filmed Entertainment in Pakistan. The movie will be available in both 2D and 3D format.

Giving his views at Don 2 premiere, Mr. Nadeem H. Mandviwalla, Managing Director, and Mandviwalla Entertainment said, “Don 2 was perhaps the most-awaited movie of this year. The fact that the movie features the iconic character Don played by Shahrukh Khan is enough to make Pakistanis crave to watch the movie on big screen. However, the movie also has a strong story line that will keep people glued to the cinema screen till the very end. Coincidentally, today also marks the 1st anniversary of Atrium cinemas and starting from this day, we will be celebrating this whole week with something new and exciting every day. We are grateful to everyone for making our 1st year such a huge success and we will continue to offer quality entertainment to Karachiites in future as well.”

Commenting on the premiere show, the golden face of Pakistani showbiz, Humayun Saeed said, “It was wonderful to be a part of this fantastic event. Hats off to Atrium cinemas and the event organizers for putting up such an entertaining setup! Such events can play a key role in reviving Pakistan’s cinema industry and give people more reasons to celebrate and have a good time with their loved ones.”

Speaking about the movie premiere, Rubina Ashraf, veteran TV actor said, “I had a great time at the event today. There is so much to enjoy here that I could already feel the aura of the movie all around me from the time I stepped on to the red carpet. For me, it was a mesmerizing experience and the movie itself was thrilling and full of suspense just as I expected. Everyone’s acting; especially Shahrukh Khan’s was par excellence!”

The event ambience of the premiere borrowed much of the thrill and action from the movie itself. At the red carpet entrance on the ground floor, guests had the opportunity to get the ‘D’ tattoo on their arms. The shadow dance performance on the ground floor where performers danced to the tune of the movie’s title track became an instant attention grabber for the exclusive guests. Furthermore, the cinema entrance passage on the 3rd floor was designed to look like a jail with prisoners passing random comments while commandos trying to keep them under control added an air of humor to the ambiance. The best part of the event was the surprise act where sirens went off in the mall and all of a sudden a group of commandos came rushing into the mall – for a minute everyone went in a shock. The audience soon recovered from the shock only to realize much to their relief that it was just an act. Following the entry, one of the commandos brought a prisoner whose face was covered. When one of the senior officers uncovered his face, it turned out he was not the real Don – and then the signature dialogue played in the background “Don ko pakar na mushkil hi nahin na mumkin hai” and it was obvious that the guests were delighted with the performance. Finger food and drinks were served to the guests throughout the premiere and everyone seemed at leisure getting thoroughly entertained even before the movie started.
