Islamabad: The 19th death anniversary of Pakistani music director and composer Rehman Verma was observed on Tuesday. His contributions to the music and film industry continue to be remembered and celebrated in Pakistan. According to Radio Pakistan, Rehman Verma, whose real name was Abdul Rehman, was born in 1927 in British India. He began his illustrious music career as 'Verma Ji' of the musical duo 'Sharma Ji-Verma Ji.' This duo was active in the film industry of the Indian subcontinent before the Partition of India in 1947. After the Partition, Rehman Verma chose to work in the newly established Pakistani film industry and settled in Lahore. He gained prominence in 1956 when he composed the music for Lollywood's first action film, "Baghi." Over the span of two decades, from 1956 to 1976, Rehman Verma composed music for 27 Urdu and Punjabi films, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Rehman Verma passed away on this day in 2007, but his legacy continues to influence and inspire musicians and composer s in Pakistan and beyond.
