Islamabad: The 13th death anniversary of the eminent Urdu linguist, researcher, author, and scholar Dr. Farman Fatehpuri was observed today. Dr. Fatehpuri, known for his significant contributions to Urdu literature and linguistics, passed away on this day in 2013 in Karachi. According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Farman Fatehpuri was born in Fatehpur, India, in 1926. He completed his education at Agra University before migrating to Pakistan in 1950, where he settled in Karachi. He made substantial contributions to the field of Urdu literature and linguistics, authoring several notable works including "Urdu Rubaee," "Urdu Ki Manzoom Daastan," "Naya Aur Purana Adab," "Mirza Shoq Ki Masnaviyan," "Urdu Ki Naa'tiya Shaeri," and "Ghalib Shaer-i-Imroz-o-Farda." In recognition of his scholarly achievements and contributions to Urdu literature, the government of Pakistan honored Dr. Fatehpuri with the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz award in 1985. His work continues to be a source of inspiration and reference for scholars and enthusiasts of Urdu literature around the world.
