Islamabad: A ceremony to mark World Health Day was held under the auspices of the World Health Organization in Islamabad. Besides others, Representative of World Health Organization in Pakistan, Dr. Luo Dapeng, Secretary Health Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, officials of the WHO, and students attended the ceremony.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Representative of World Health Organization, Dr. Luo Dapeng, expressed pride in the eight-decade-long partnership with Pakistan to promote health for all. This year's theme, "Together for Health, Stand with Science," highlights the significance of medical science. He emphasized that medical science has historically played a crucial role in protecting and saving millions of lives.
Sharing achievements facilitated by medical science, Dr. Luo noted that over twenty million people can walk today thanks to the administration of the anti-polio vaccine. He urged participants to support science in the ongoing effort to build a healthier world.
Secretary Health Aslam Ghauri extended his appreciation to the World Health Organization for hosting the event and for its unwavering support to Pakistan over almost eight decades. He highlighted that seventy-eight years ago, in 1948, Pakistan was among the sixty-one member states that ratified the WHO Constitution, maintaining a strong commitment to advancing global health.
He encouraged participants to collaborate in building healthier families, stronger communities, and a more prosperous and healthy Pakistan. The Secretary of Health also emphasized that since the WHO's establishment, science has enabled the cure of deadly diseases, underscoring that trusting and following medical science is essential for the future of families and communities.
