Analysts laud security forces’ role in eliminating terrorism, promoting peace

Brig (Retd) Ahmed Saeed Minhas (Defense Analyst): Since 2004, when Pakistan opted to be an ally with the United States in war against terrorism, we have been facing reactions from the militant organizations in terms of terrorist activities in Pakistan. The terrorist activities in Punjab and Karachi have gone to zero but in areas of FATA, KPK and Balochistan. Pakistan shares long borders with Iran and Afghanistan so terrorists have a wide area to enter in Pakistan. Moreover, the interim government in Afghanistan is supporting TTP and Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan and using it as a political and diplomatic tool against Pakistan against its decision to send back the illegal foreigners including Afghanis. The Afghan refugees going back to their country are not being welcomed by their own people. Despite certain high-level meetings with the Taliban government, the interim Afghan government is unable to convince militant organizations to refrain from committing terrorist activities in Pakistan using Afghan soil. COAS d uring his visit to the United States also discussed the issue with US officials. The Afghan government is unable to establish its writ on the entire Afghanistan and the war-lords are still in control in major areas of the war-torn country. Our resilient armed forces and the nation are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country by all means. Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): Pakistan lead from the front in war against terrorism but is badly affected by it. Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices in this crucial war and the world acknowledges the role of Pakistan in this regard. Pakistan always contributed in the efforts for the sake of regional peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, the international community never compensated the financial loss suffered by Pakistan in the war against terror. The law enforcement agencies have contributed to a great extent in wiping out the menace of terrorism. The nation always stands by its forces and is determined to make Pakistan a peaceful and terror-fr ee country. Source: Radio Pakistan
