Islamabad: Amb. Masood Khalid, a former diplomat, has commended the leadership of Pakistan for its pivotal role in advancing peace talks between the United States and Iran. He noted that both countries are displaying a positive attitude towards these discussions, which he described as a welcoming development. Khalid attributed this progress to Pakistan's successful mediation efforts, highlighting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's commitment to achieving a permanent resolution to the US-Iran conflict for regional peace. According to Radio Pakistan, Khalid expressed optimism about the potential signing of a peace agreement between the US and Iran, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability for both the region and the world. He noted that Pakistan's diplomatic efforts enjoy full international support. Khalid also reflected on a statement from former President Donald Trump, considering it a positive sign in the ongoing peace process. Khalid stressed that the lesson from the conflict is the ineffectiveness of military solutions for political disputes. He argued that military action is not a viable option for the US to resolve issues with Iran, as Iranians are steadfast in protecting their sovereignty. He also pointed out that Israel had influenced the US's aggressive stance against Iran and suggested that it is time for Israel to reconsider its policies in the Middle East. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to Khalid, has disrupted the global food and energy supply chains.
