Analyst Hails Government for Increasing Reliance on AI-Based Systems

Islamabad: Dr. Usman Chohan, an economist, has praised the government's initiative to enhance reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) based systems in areas such as customs clearance, risk management, and tax collection. Dr. Chohan believes that integrating AI tools into these systems will improve their efficiency and allow for quicker execution of tasks within relevant departments. Additionally, the implementation of AI is expected to minimize human intervention, potentially reducing system distortions and ensuring transparency in the goods clearing process.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Chohan highlighted the strong political will of the government to incorporate AI-based systems, despite past challenges faced during attempts to computerize systems. He noted that vested interests in relevant departments have previously posed obstacles to such advancements. Furthermore, Dr. Chohan emphasized the importance of AI in addressing the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) focus on revenue collection, which is crucial for fiscal and current account management. He asserted that economic stability is unattainable without the adoption of modern AI technologies.
