Doha: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani this evening.

According to Radio Pakistan, during their most warm and cordial conversation, the Qatari Amir congratulated the Prime Minister on Pakistan's successful diplomatic efforts that have led to the Iran-US ceasefire, as well as negotiations between the two sides, in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister thanked the Amir for his appreciation of Pakistan's sincere and genuine mediation efforts. He also lauded the wisdom and sagacity of the Qatari leadership that has exhibited exemplary restraint, despite facing continuous attacks over the past six weeks.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar and assured the Amir that both countries would always stand shoulder to shoulder, through thick and thin.

The two leaders expressed the hope that, through concerted efforts, peace would return soon to the entire region.
