Los Angeles: The Urdu Writers Society of North America held a special reception in honour of Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, in Los Angeles. The Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Asim Ali Khan, also accompanied the Ambassador on this occasion.
According to Radio Pakistan, the event aimed to celebrate the Urdu language and promote Pakistan’s cultural and literary heritage within the Pakistani-American community. Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh lauded the Urdu Writers Society of North America for its efforts in preserving and promoting the Urdu language and Pakistani culture across North America. He emphasized the role of literature and the arts in projecting Pakistan’s image globally, fostering cultural pride, and strengthening people-to-people ties.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of a specially commissioned painting titled ‘Bunyanum Marsoos’ by Irfan Murtaza, President of the Society and a noted poet and artist. The artwork symbolizes national unity, resilience, and Pakistan’s stance on sovereignty and self-defence in the face of external aggression.
Ambassador Saeed Sheikh appreciated the artistic gesture, describing it as a tribute to the leadership and people of Pakistan. He said it reflects the nation’s spirit, its commitment to peace, and its recent diplomatic and strategic successes.
The reception was attended by literary personalities, artists, and members of the Pakistani-American community from across California. The event served as a platform for reaffirming the diaspora’s dedication to promoting Pakistan’s cultural identity and national dignity abroad.
