Analysts Highlight Ongoing Kashmir Struggle Against Indian Rule

Islamabad:Dr. Muhammad Khan, an expert in international relations, emphasized the significance of October 27 as a day of remembrance for Kashmiris, who aim to remind the world and the United Nations of their pledges to grant Kashmiris the right to self-determination. This annual observance underscores the pending implementation of UN resolutions concerning the Kashmir dispute, as Kashmiris continue to be denied their rights by India.

According to Radio Pakistan, Kashmiris worldwide mark October 27 as Black Day to protest against India's illegal occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the formation of new countries through self-determination as endorsed by the United Nations, Kashmiris remain deprived of this right. Dr. Khan noted India's historical commitment at the UN Security Council to hold a plebiscite in the region, a promise from which Indian leadership later withdrew.

Shamim Shawl, a leader within the Hurriyat movement, highlighted Kashmir as a critical point of contention between two nuclear powers. She called upon the United Nations to implement its resolutions and grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination. Shawl pointed out the ongoing military operations by India against Kashmiris since 1947, describing them as efforts to suppress the freedom struggle, while India has reportedly devised plans to convert the region into a Hindu state.
