Corps Commanders’ Conference Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Counterterrorism

Rawalpindi:The Corps Commanders' Conference, chaired by Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has affirmed Pakistan's right to self-defense and pledged targeted action against terrorism originating from Afghanistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the conference emphasized that the responsibility for terrorism facilitated by the Taliban leadership on behalf of India lies with the Taliban. The participants also reviewed the prevailing security environment and resolved to maintain a high state of readiness.

The conference praised law enforcement agencies for their successful intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations and stressed the need to complement these efforts with non-kinetic measures. These measures include grassroots-level governance, strategic public engagement, dismantling terror-crime nexuses, and enhancing police capacity, aligning with the National Action Plan and Vision Azm-e-Istehkam.

The commanders underscored the importance of internal stability and resolved that any attempt to incite agitation or create situations similar to those on May 9 will be met with decisive force, in adherence to the rule of law.

The conference welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and T¼rkiye, recognizing its role in strengthening strategic and collective defense ties. It condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and expressed solidarity with the Kingdom, reiterating Pakistan's dedication to the security of the Haramain Sharifain.

The forum reiterated Pakistan's position on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, supporting a resolution of the dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Field Marshal Munir concluded by praising the formations for their operational preparedness and professionalism, urging commanders to enhance intelligence-based operations and improve combat capabilities through modern technology and training. He assured that the Armed Forces, with the nation's support, are fully prepared to protect Pakistan's sovereignty and national security.

The forum also paid tribute to the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and civilians who sacrificed their lives for the country, offering Fateha in their memory.
