Islamabad: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, will become the next Foreign Secretary of Pakistan. This announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on the social media platform X.

According to Radio Pakistan, the current Foreign Secretary, Amna Baloch, is set to retire from government service on the 17th of this month. Ishaq Dar expressed confidence in Asim Iftikhar's ability to lead the Foreign Office, emphasizing the continuation of advancing Pakistan's interests with clarity and professionalism. He acknowledged the important work done by Amna Baloch and her predecessors.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised Amna Baloch for her service and leadership at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a significant period in Pakistan's diplomatic history. He noted that she leaves behind a legacy of dedicated public service and announced her future role as Pakistan's Ambassador to Trkiye after her retirement.

Ishaq Dar also highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved these assignments, indicating the government's readiness for a seamless transition in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
