Islamabad: A ceremony was held in Motorway Police Headquarters, Islamabad in connection with the Police Martyrs' Day. Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he described 4th August as an important day in the nation's history. The Minister said sacrifices of all martyrs, including the fifty-nine martyrs of the Motorway Police, are unforgettable.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted the establishment of modern police stations, parking facilities, and ambulance services near toll plazas to enhance the safety of patrolling officers. The Motorway Police, he stated, is regarded as a model for the entire region, and thanks to financial self-sufficiency, the country's highway network is being expanded using indigenous resources.

The Minister announced that a historic expansion of motorways is underway, stretching from Gilgit-Baltistan to Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab. He emphasized that the extension of the Murree Expressway to Muzaffarabad will provide the people of Azad Kashmir with world-class transport facilities. The Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad-Chilas (MNJC) Motorway will serve as an alternative to the Karakoram Highway, strengthening Pakistan's strategic connectivity with China.

Furthermore, the Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi Highway will significantly reduce the Islamabad-Lahore journey by one hundred kilometers, saving travelers approximately one hour of travel time. The Minister also mentioned that motorway projects in Balochistan will strengthen border trade with Iran and enhance regional connectivity. He noted that the M-10 Lyari Expressway is facilitating commercial transportation from Karachi Port, and work is underway on the Guru Nanak Expressway, which will connect Kartarpur and Nankana Sahib. The N-25 Highway is expected to be completed by next year.
